The Five Layers of a SmartR Space
A SmartR Spaces Field Note: one visual idea about how homes and buildings behave, fail, and improve.
The visible part of automation is the smallest part. A keypad or app sits on top of wiring, power, network design, device interfaces, and the logic that connects them. This pyramid starts at the structure and works upward, because a premium interface cannot rescue inaccessible panels or undocumented cables.
Projects become fragile when the layers are bought in reverse. Start with routes, panels, protection, and network coverage. Select hardware against the loads. Integrate only what can be supported. Then design the scenes and interfaces. The experience layer should feel simple because the lower layers did the difficult work.
