What is home automation, exactly?

Home automation connects your lights, AC, fans, curtains, locks, and security systems to a central controller — so they can be operated from a single app, voice command, or automated schedule, instead of individual switches.

A fully automated home has three basic layers: sensors that read the environment (temperature, motion, daylight, occupancy), controllers that process that information, and actuators — the smart switches, dimmers, motorised blinds, smart locks — that respond. What you experience is a home that feels intuitive. What you actually save is 20–35% on energy bills, depending on how you use it.

Sensors

Motion, temperature, daylight, door/window, occupancy — the eyes and ears of your system.

Controllers / Hubs

The brain. Processes inputs and executes rules — whether that's a scheduled scene or a voice command.

Actuators

Smart switches, dimmers, smart locks, motorised curtains — the parts that physically respond.

New builds and existing homes — both work.

Home automation is not just for homes under construction. Most of our projects in Jaipur are retrofits — existing flats and bungalows where we work around existing wiring.

New Build

Under-construction homes & renovations

The best time to automate. Conduits can be laid before plastering, KNX wiring can go in before the electrician does the surface work, and you get maximum flexibility in system design. We work alongside your architect and civil contractor from the start.

  • Full KNX or hybrid wired system
  • In-wall touch panels, keypads
  • Structured networking & AV pre-wire
  • Energy monitoring from day one
Retrofit

Existing apartments & villas

No rewiring required. Retrofit-grade behind-the-switch modules fit inside your existing switch boxes, connect to your existing wiring, and give you full smart control without breaking walls. Most retrofit projects are completed in 2–3 days with zero civil work. Read our retrofit guide →

  • Behind-the-switch smart modules
  • Wi-Fi, Zigbee or Z-Wave protocols
  • No civil work, minimal disruption
  • Works with Alexa, Google, Apple Home

Wired, Wireless, or Hybrid?

The right architecture depends on your construction stage, budget, and how much of the home you want to automate. Here's how we think about it.

Wired — KNX

For new builds & full renovations

KNX is a professional-grade, standards-based wired protocol used in luxury homes and commercial buildings worldwide. Every device communicates over a dedicated bus cable — stable, interference-free, and future-proof for decades.

  • Zero Wi-Fi dependence
  • Extremely reliable — used in 500k+ global projects
  • Supports 1000s of compatible devices
  • Industry-standard for luxury builds

Requires conduit laying before plastering. Not suitable for completed homes without civil work.

Wireless — Zigbee / Wi-Fi

For retrofit & existing homes

Wireless protocols like Zigbee and Z-Wave use mesh networking — each device acts as a relay, so signal range is rarely an issue in practice. Wi-Fi-based smart switches are simpler but rely on your router's performance.

  • No new wiring — fits in existing switch boxes
  • Lower upfront cost
  • Quick to install (2–3 days)
  • Works with all major voice assistants

Dependent on network quality. Large homes may need mesh Wi-Fi or dedicated Zigbee coordinator.

Hybrid

Best of both worlds

Most of our larger Jaipur projects use a hybrid approach: KNX for lighting and HVAC (where reliability matters most), wireless for curtains and secondary zones, and a unified hub that controls everything through one interface.

  • Mission-critical systems run wired
  • Convenience zones stay wireless
  • Single app for everything
  • Easier to expand later

Requires careful planning upfront. Best suited for new builds with defined automation priorities.

Climate & HVAC Automation

Pre-cooling before you arrive, occupancy-based shutdown in empty rooms, temperature schedules per zone. Works with most split ACs via IR blasters or direct wired integration. Read how AC automation cuts bills →

🔒

Security & Access Control

Smart video doorbells, biometric and PIN-based smart locks, motion-triggered alerts, and CCTV integration. Your phone knows who's at the door before you do. Security automation guide →

🪟

Curtains & Motorised Blinds

Motorised curtain tracks and roller blinds — controlled by app, schedule, or sensor. Wake up to natural light or block afternoon sun in the west-facing bedroom automatically.

Energy Monitoring

Real-time consumption dashboards, appliance-level tracking, and automation rules that cut standby waste. Most homes see 20–30% lower electricity bills within the first billing cycle.

🎬

AV & Entertainment

Multi-room audio, home theatre control, and unified AV scenes — one tap sets the movie mode (lights dim, TV on, projector screen drops). Integrated into the same controller as the rest of your home.

The protocols we work with

We don't push a single brand or ecosystem. Our approach is to pick the right protocol for each layer of your system — then integrate everything into one controller so you never see the seams.

For wired systems, we use KNX — the global standard for professional building automation, supported by 500+ manufacturers. For retrofit wireless work, we primarily use Zigbee (mesh, reliable, energy-efficient) and Wi-Fi (easier for off-the-shelf integrations). Newer installations increasingly use Matter, the cross-ecosystem standard backed by Apple, Google, Amazon, and Samsung — ensuring your devices won't be locked to a single app.

From first call to final handover

Every home automation project we do follows the same four-stage process — so nothing is improvised on site, and you're never surprised by what's happening.

01

Discover

We visit your home (or study the floor plan), understand how you live, which rooms need what, and what your current infrastructure looks like. You get a written scope — not a verbal estimate.

02

Design

Our engineers produce a full automation design: device layout, protocol choice, wiring/conduit plan (for new builds), app UI, and scene logic. You approve before anything is purchased.

03

Install & Commission

Installation by certified engineers — not sub-contracted labour. Every scene, schedule, and integration is tested before we hand over. You walk away knowing how to use everything.

04

Support & Upgrades

Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC), remote diagnostics, and future-proofing when you want to add rooms or features. We're the only point of contact — no warranty ping-pong between brands.

Questions homeowners ask us

What happens if the Wi-Fi goes down — does everything stop working?

For wireless systems, local control (via wall switches) always works even without internet. Your routines and schedules stored on the hub keep running. Cloud-dependent features like remote access and voice assistants need an internet connection, but your lights and AC will still respond to physical touch. For wired KNX systems, there is no Wi-Fi dependency at all.

Is home automation safe from hacking?

All our systems use end-to-end encrypted communication. We configure your devices on a separate IoT VLAN, isolated from your main home network. We only use platforms with regular security updates and avoid devices from manufacturers with poor security track records. Read more on home security →

Can I automate just one room or does it have to be the whole house?

Absolutely — we do single-room installations regularly. The master bedroom is the most popular starting point (lights, AC, curtains, lock). You can expand room by room at your own pace. We design the first install with future expansion in mind so there's no rework.

Will it work with my existing AC / lights / geysers?

In most cases, yes. We can integrate most split ACs via IR control. Standard tube lights and incandescent bulbs can be dimmed via compatible smart dimmers. For geysers, we use smart plugs or in-line smart switches. We assess compatibility during the site survey — we'll be upfront if something needs replacing.

How long does a typical installation take?

A retrofit for a 3-BHK flat usually takes 2–3 working days. A new-build with wiring takes longer — typically done in two visits: one for pre-plaster conduit work, and one post-plastering for device installation and commissioning. We give you a timeline before we start.

What if I want to expand or change things later?

Every system we install is designed to be expandable. Adding a new room, changing scenes, or integrating a new device is covered under our AMC or done as a one-time service call. We also train you to make simple changes (like editing scenes or schedules) yourself through the app.

Do you handle the ongoing maintenance?

Yes — we offer Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) that cover remote diagnostics, firmware updates, on-site visits for hardware issues, and a priority support line. Most issues are resolved remotely within a few hours. Ask us about AMC pricing.

How much does home automation actually cost in Jaipur?

A basic retrofit for a 3-BHK typically starts around ₹1.5–3L. A full new-build setup with lighting, climate, security and AV ranges from ₹4–9L. Luxury KNX integrated homes go from ₹12L upwards. Our full cost breakdown →
